“The Environment in Islam and Shinto” was the theme of the talks, held by the Iranian Cultural Center in Japan in cooperation with the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization’s (ICRO) Center for Dialogue among Faiths and Cultures and a number of Japanese institutes.

A number of cultural and religious officials and figures from the two countries delivered speeches in person or via video-links.

ICRO Chief Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour in his address stressed that religious leaders should mobilize the world community for protecting the environment.

He said in Islam, the nature is a sign of God and anyone seeking to know God can begin by reflecting on the nature and its beauties and wonders.

Tatsu Ichi Savada, a Japanese student of AL-Mustafa International University and translator of the Quran into Japanese, was another speaker at the event.

He said everything in this world, including the nature, is God’s trust given to mankind.

Savada added that in Islam, therefore, the nature should be treated with respect and protection of the environment is a duty.

The previous edition of the Iran-Japan interfaith dialogue was held in February 2019 with the theme of family in Islam and Shinto.
